# Does chatting with Carat AI also use usage?

All interactions with Carat AI are paid AI services, so usage is deducted even for text-only conversations. Even if you have unlimited image or video generation, conversations with the AI agent are charged separately.

### Conversation models

The models used for chatting with the Carat AI agent are labeled as follows:

| Conversation model | Credits used | Description                            |
| ------------------ | ------------ | -------------------------------------- |
| **Carat 1.0 Lite** | Low          | The most economical conversation model |
| **Carat 1.0**      | Medium       | The default conversation model         |
| **Carat 1.0 Soul** | High         | The advanced conversation model        |

  To reduce the credits used in conversation, we recommend **Carat 1.0 Lite**.

### Usage deduction rules and types

* **Applies to:** All interactions with AI, including general text conversations, Q\&A, advice, and information searches.
* **Consumption level:** Less usage is deducted compared to image/video/audio generation, but **longer conversations or more complex requests consume more usage**.

### Unlimited benefits and chat

Unlimited promotions apply only to **specific image and video generation models**: images such as Nano Banana basic and Z-Image, and for video the Carat Video (LTX) model. Advanced external video models such as Google Veo, Kling, and Seedance are not covered and deduct credits. Conversations with the AI agent use an LLM (large language model), so they are also not covered by unlimited benefits.

### When credits are exhausted

For free users, once all credits are exhausted, chatting with Carat AI is no longer available. To continue using the service, please upgrade your plan or recharge additional credits.

\[Agent 2.0(에이전트 2.0)] also uses credits to power smarter conversations and tasks. If your credits run out completely, conversations on Agent 2.0 may become hard to continue, so recharge your credits or upgrade your plan. (If you only need to keep generating unlimited images or videos, that's also possible in \[Agent 1.0(에이전트 1.0)]: web at carat.im/?tab=v1, or in the app via \[Home(홈)] → top-left \[Menu(메뉴)] (☰) → \[Agent 2.0(에이전트 2.0)] → \[Agent 1.0(에이전트 1.0)].)
