# Why is usage deducted when I only had a text conversation?

All interactions with Carat AI are paid AI services, so usage is deducted even for text-only conversations.

### Usage deduction rules and types

* **Applies to:** All interactions with AI, including general text conversations, Q\&A, advice, and information searches. This also covers the conversation the agent uses to understand and carry out your request when creating videos or images.
* **Consumption level:** Less usage is deducted compared to image/video/audio generation, but **longer conversations or more complex requests consume more usage**.

Generating with an unlimited model does not use credits, but conversations with the agent do. These are separate, so see [Unlimited benefit scope](/en/troubleshooting/usage-plan/unlimited-benefit-scope) for details.
