OpenAI just dropped the official GPT-5.5 prompt guide.
The gist is simple. Just include three things: the outcome you want, the constraints to follow, and the criteria for success. You no longer need to assign a role like 'you are an expert' or break instructions into step-by-step chains. As models get smarter, shorter and clearer prompts actually produce better results.
The smarter AI models get, the shorter your prompts need to be. Instead of memorizing complex prompting techniques, just clearly state what you want. The very concept of 'prompt engineering' might be fading away.
