How to create AI product photos
Good product photos usually mean a studio, lighting, props and a lot of editing. Carat AI's AI product photography tool removes most of that work. Upload a photo of your product together with a background image (a marble countertop, a sunlit café table, a wooden shelf, an outdoor scene) and the AI places your product into that setting and composites everything into one polished, professional product shot. No background photo on hand? Open Settings and pick one of the background templates instead. Because you choose the exact background, the result fits your brand rather than a generic scene, which makes this a practical product photo background tool for online stores, marketplaces, ads and social media. Choose a 9:16, 1:1 or 16:9 ratio before you create, and the image comes out shaped for the place you plan to use it.

Upload your product and background images
Add your product photo to the Product Image field and the scene you want to the Background Image field. If you don't have a background, open Settings and choose a background template.

Choose the image ratio
Pick 9:16 for Stories, Reels and TikTok, 1:1 for feeds and marketplace listings, or 16:9 for website banners and headers.

Create and download your product shot
Click Create. The AI composites your product into the background, and you can review the result and download it.

How does AI product photography work here?

You give the AI two things: your product photo and a background image (or a template). It places the product into that background and blends the two into a single product shot, so you don't have to cut out, position and shade the product by hand.
What kind of product photo should I upload?

A sharp photo where the whole product is visible works best. The fewer other objects in the frame, the more accurately the AI can pick out your product and composite it cleanly.
Do I need my own background image?

No. If you don't have one, open Settings and choose from the background templates. Uploading your own background is the best option when you want a specific location or brand look.
Can I describe the background in text?

This tool doesn't generate backgrounds from text prompts. It works from the background image you upload or the template you select, so the most reliable way to get a specific mood is to use a photo that already shows it.
Is this the same as removing a background?

No. This tool creates a finished product shot with your product placed into a new background. If you only need a cutout with the background removed, use Carat AI's background remover instead.
Will my product's shape or logo change?

The AI composites the product from the image you upload, but small details such as fine text or logos can look slightly different from the original. Compare the result with your original photo before you use it in listings or ads.
