To generate from your own photo as a reference, the file has to be uploaded to Carat’s storage. Attaching a file in the chat and uploading it to Carat are two different things, so you select the original once more in Carat’s upload window.

Steps

  1. Ask for work that uses a reference file (for example, “make a profile image from this photo”). Carat’s upload window opens.
  2. Under [Upload a reference file(참조 파일 올리기)], click [Select a file(파일 선택)] or drag the file in.
  3. Selecting the original starts the upload automatically. Wait until it goes [Preparing(준비 중)] → [Uploading(올리는 중)] → [Ready(준비 완료)].
  4. Click [Continue with this file(이 파일로 계속)] and the chat receives a message to use that file, then Carat carries on with the work.
Clicking [Continue with this file(이 파일로 계속)] before [Ready(준비 완료)] appears means the file is not picked up. Wait for the status to change to [Ready(준비 완료)] first.

File size limits

Files over the limit will not upload. Reduce the resolution of a photo or trim a video and try again.

If the upload window does not open

The upload window only opens when the AI tool you are using calls Carat’s upload feature. It does not open automatically in every environment.
  • Say in your request that you want to use a file — something like “use the attached photo as a reference” gets Carat’s upload feature called.
  • In an environment without support for the upload window, Carat may ask for a public image address (HTTPS) instead. That route supports images only.
  • If it still does not go through, attach the file in the AI agent on the Carat app or website instead.
