If you see a ‘Usage limit exceeded’ message while you still have credits, this isn’t a system error. It’s a normal limit based on the background music (BGM) generation policy.

Background music model update

Carat upgraded its background music generation model to deliver higher-quality audio. As a result, the computing resources and credits needed to generate a single track have increased significantly compared to before.

Generation limit for free users

With the total daily credits provided to free users, you can currently generate only about 22 seconds of high-quality background music at most.

Why generation fails even with credits

Carat’s credits are also partially consumed when you chat with the AI agent or use other features. Because background music generation requires a large amount of credits at once, the system may block it if your credits have already dropped (for example, from conversation) below what’s needed to fully generate one track.

How to resolve it

  • Shorten the music length: Set the requested music to a very short length and try again.
  • Upgrade your subscription plan: If you’d like to generate longer, high-quality music without restrictions, we recommend upgrading to a subscription plan.
